Oblikovano prirodom: priča iza naziva naših betonskih posuda

Shaped by nature: the story behind the name of our concrete vesssels

Materials have their own character. Concrete is no exception. At first glance, it seems raw and cold, but its beauty lies precisely in this simplicity. Over time, it reveals its texture, acquires a patina, and becomes a natural part of the space it inhabits.

When we created the collection of concrete vessels for Ivé Lys Studio, we didn't look for inspiration in fleeting trends. We found it in the north. In landscapes shaped by stone, sea, mountains, and silence. Hence their names. They don't just describe a shape. They convey a feeling.

Fjord

There are places where land and sea meet so naturally that the boundary between them almost disappears. That is a fjord. Calm, deep, and shaped by time, it became the inspiration for a vessel with clean lines and balanced proportions. Like the landscape it is named after, Fjord leaves an impression of quiet presence.

Fjell

In Norwegian, fjell means mountain. A mountain doesn't try to be noticed. It simply exists. Steadfast. Calm. Shaped by time. This feeling was the starting point for this vessel—solid in its form, simple in its expression, and built to last.

Sten

In Swedish, sten means stone. A name that perhaps best describes the character of the material itself. Concrete does not hide its beauty behind gloss or ornament. It lies in the texture. In the irregularities. In the honesty of a material that remains true to itself.

Enga

In Norwegian, enga means meadow. An open space. Fresh air. A moment when nature slows down. We chose it because it brings a gentler note to the collection and reminds us that balance is often hidden in the simplest moments.

Oval

Sometimes the shape speaks enough. Soft lines and a rounded silhouette create a sense of lightness, which is why the name came about quite naturally. Without unnecessary details. Just a form that unobtrusively blends into the space.

Ro

In Nordic languages, ro means calm. Perhaps no word describes the philosophy of Ivé Lys Studio better than this one. We do not strive for perfection. We strive for a home where we feel good. Ro is not just the name of this vessel. It is a feeling we always want to return to.

More than concrete

Each Ivé Lys vessel is handmade. Therefore, no two are exactly alike. Slight differences in texture, shade, or surface are not imperfections, but rather a trace of the process and a reminder that each piece is shaped by hand. We believe that beauty does not come from perfect symmetry. It is found in materials that age gracefully. In objects that have character. In design that does not follow trends, but time. That's why the names of our concrete vessels are more than just names. They are small reminders of the landscapes that inspire us and the simplicity to which we always return.

Nature never strives for perfection.
That's precisely why it inspires us so much.
